JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 37-year-old Jacksonville mother has been charged with aggravated child abuse after her son was brought to Wolfson Children's Hospital with four broken bones, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The boy also had various bruises, including one on the chin, and Burt told detectives she didn't know exactly how the baby had been hurt. She said it might have been when another child jumped into a bed with him.

She said the chin bruise might have been the result of the baby leaning on his pacifier.

Doctors who examined the little boy told JSO the injuries were consistent with child abuse.

After an investigation by JSO and the Department of Children and Families, Burt was arrested May 17.

She is being held on $250,000 bond.
