MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A 17-year-old using a crosswalk in Middleburg early Monday morning was seriously injured when he was struck by a car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Samuel Patterson was crossing Tynes Boulevard and Pine Ridge Parkway at 6:30 a.m. when he was struck at by a Ford Focus driven by Priscilla Gipson, 28, according to the FHP report. The driver told troopers she failed to see the boy.

Patterson was taken to Orange Park Medical Center, where he was expected to recover.
Troopers said Gipson was treated on site for minor injuries. She was charged with careless driving.
