Overnight fire damages Westside home

Abandoned home badly damaged; JFRD says fire suspicious

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Westside home has heavy damage after an early morning fire, according to Jacksonville Fire-Rescue.

The fire broke out sometime after 4 a.m. Tuesday morning in the 8500 block of Trambley Drive, and according to JFRD, this is not the first time they have responded to this house.

Firefighters said they were called to the abandoned house about three months ago. That fire was contained to one room.

Tuesday morning's call to firefighters was made by a neighbor who smelled smoke.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but the fire is suspicious, according to the State Fire Marshal, which is investigating.
