PALATKA, Fla. – A 53-year-old Palatka man was arrested Thursday on 10 counts of possession of child pornography, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.
A search warrant was issued for Thomas Allen Thornton as a result of an investigation initiated because of information received from the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.

Detectives and a SWAT team searched a home on Mango Drive on Dec. 7, where they found child pornography and arrested Thornton, deputies said.
“The sexual exploitation of children is one of the most deplorable, disgusting and depraved manifestations of human behavior,” Sheriff Gator DeLoach said. “I am sickened by the thought of anyone engaging in such perverted activities. I will do everything in my power to ensure this individual is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
