Putnam County Battalion Chief  Paul Flateau said firefighters were going door to door to make sure residents were aware.

The origin of the fire is unknown at this time, Flateau said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said it is also monitoring the blaze in the area of U.S. 17 and Paradise Shores Road. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling in the area because of low visibility due to the smoke.

Troopers reminded drivers to reduce their speed and use their low beam headlights.
