Trayvon Martin Memorial Service

Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Sanford

SANFORD, Fla. – The Sanford community celebrated Trayvon Martin's life Saturday.  There was a memorial service held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  The service was held at the Goldsboro Welcome Center.  It had been moved from the neighborhood where Trayvon Martin was killed.

The community prayed, sang songs and numerous speakers were on hand for the memorial where they called for an end to gun violence.

This month marks two years since Martin was fatally shot by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain.  Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder in July 2013.
