1 injured, 1 in custody in Southside shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man was injured and another person was taken into custody following a shooting Tuesday night on the city’s Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Officers answering a call about a person shot on Shallow Lake Drive near Hood Landing Road shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The unnamed victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

Investigators said they have a potential shooting suspect in custody, and there’s no reason to believe the public is in any danger.

Based on preliminary details, police believe the shooting might stem from a domestic disturbance. Little information was immediately released.
