Middleburg residents urged to stay inside, avoid Old Jennings Road as deputies respond to a mental health crisis

Clay County sheriff's office responding to mental health crisis in Middleburg that has the area blocked off (WJXT)

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents staying near Old Jenning Road to remain inside their homes as deputies are working with an individual having a mental health crisis on Friday night.

CCSO says the person is armed and suicidal but he is contained and not wandering around the area. The crisis negotiation team is speaking with him.

If you are driving, deputies advise you to avoid the area as drivers cannot go beyond Old Jennings Road and Long Bay Road.

The sheriff’s office says drivers can park and remain with their vehicles at the Calvary Baptist Church or the parking lot at the Tynes Elementary School.
