Police seek home for dog that worked with inmates

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is seeking a loving home for "Sam," a six-month-old labrador/pitbull mix that is fully trained.

"He is a very sweet dog that loves everyone," JSO wrote on its Facebook page.

Sam will be taking the Master's Test in obedience in two weeks.

JSO said he will make a great pet for any family with children, other dogs or cats.

Sam graduates from A New Leash On Life on Friday, February 3 at the Montgomery Correctional Center. There is a $40 adoption fee.

The program takes dogs from the city's shelter and moves them to prisons with inmates, where they are trained so they can be adopted.

If you're interested in adopting Sam, call Officer Irre at 904-766-5004.
