Researchers find link between flu shot and miscarriages

Despite new findings, health experts encourage expectant mothers to get the shot

A new study finds a possible link between flu vaccines and pregnant mothers who received a certain version of the shot two years in a row.

It's the first study to assess the effects of the influenza vaccination in back-to-back years.

According to the study by American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists , women who had miscarriages between 2010 and 2012 were more likely to have flu shots two years in a row, including shots to prevent the swine flu.

Researchers focused solely on miscarriages that occurred in the first 19 weeks of pregnancy.

Some health experts argue there is no need to change the government recommendation that women get the flu vaccine. If you are considering getting the flu shot, consult with your doctor.
