Police investigate 2nd shooting in Durkeeville neighborhood

2 men shot within one block of Grothe Street in less than 72 hours

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The search is on for a gunman Tuesday after the second shooting in a Durkeeville neighborhood in less than 72 hours.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, police were dispatched to a house on Grothe Street near the intersection of Barnett Street just after midnight Tuesday. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds to his leg and torso in front of a house. He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.

A vehicle with a man and woman inside was also hit by gunfire. They were not hurt, but drove to a nearby location on Ella Street and called police. 

Police don't know who was shooting or why. 

Early Saturday morning, a man was shot several times on Grothe Street near Blue Avenue -- about one block west of Tuesday morning's shooting. That man, whose name has not been released, was expected to recover. 

Detectives said they did not know if the two shootings were related.
