Woman goes slap happy in department store, police say

Diane Thompson accused of slapping 2 Ross employees

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A woman who was upset about slow cashier service Monday at the Ross department store on NW 13th Street slapped the cashier, then another store employee, according to police.

Diane Thompson, 45, became upset that her cashier was taking too long to ring up her purchase and slapped him across the face, police said.

The store's computer system had crashed and the cashier, who is the store manager, was working to verify funds with the credit card company when Thompson became upset. When a second employee came over to intervene, she received a slap for her efforts, police said.
