VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena transformed for Military Spouse Night Out

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a chance to get away from the house and enjoy an evening -- a break from the worries of the day. News4JAX was there for the fifth annual Military Spouse Night Out.

On Thursday night, the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena was transformed into a hair salon for many. Even the little ones got their nails done.

Others got a massage to work out any tension. Everyone was served something good to eat and drink as they got a chance to spice up their style.

“It shows that appreciation that they have,” said Jobely Carrillo, a Navy spouse. “It’s great! A great event!”

She been coming to the Military Spouse Night Out for three years.

“My favorite part is the food, the wine and picking out a dress!” Connolly said.

Vernon Parker, a veteran we spoke with, gave the event a thumbs up.

“I think vets need to have more days in order for them to relieve some of the pressure from war time and their training and stuff,” Parker said.

The night -- a tribute to those who keep things in line at home and at work while their loved ones serve the nation.
