'Dogs & Gators: Teammates at Sr. Bowl

MOBILE, Ala. – Two schools. So much hatred.

"When we're on the field, when I'm in Gainesville, I'll never shake a Georgia fan's hand," said Florida cornerback Jaylen Watkins.

But at this week's Senior Bowl in Mobile, the two schools become one as both Gator and Bulldog players will suit up for the South squad.

"I think it's a little different but it's different when he's patting me on the butt and not slapping me in the face," said Georgia tight end Arthur Lynch.

Lynch is the lone Bulldog on the roster. Quarterback Aaron Murray made the trip to Mobile, but is not participating in the game due to a torn ACL. Solomon Patton, Jaylen Watkins and Jon Halapio are the three Gators on the team.

"It's kind of weird but once you walk in the buildings you see who's in the meeting rooms kind of get a team feel kind of goes away a little bit," said Watkins.

For Patton, this week not only serves as an opportunity to get a glimpse of his life in the NFL, but a chance to come home. Patton is a native of Mobile and says he's played dozens of times at Ladd Peebles Stadium. And when it comes to the Florida-Georgia rivalry, he's willing to move past it for the good of the team.

"We definitely have that hate hate relationship," said Patton. "But we're teammates right now so that's definitely behind us."
