PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – J.B. Holmes needed to earn just eight FedExClub points in the Wells Fargo Championship to qualify for The Players. Instead, the 32-year-old University of Kentucky alum qualified the old-fashioned way: recording his third PGA Tour victory.
Holmes fills the final slot in the field of 144 that will tackle the TPC Sawgrass course this week.
In addition to a broken ankle in March 2013, Holmes also had to overcome brain surgery in 20111 at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore to repair Chiari malfunctions.
With Holmes gaining entry to The Players, Japan's Ryo Ishikawa becomes the first alternate.
