Florida State tops Miami, advances to ACC title game

DURHAM, N.C. – Dylan Busby's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Florida State past Miami 5-4 on Saturday, giving the Seminoles a berth in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game.

Busby also homered and finished with three RBIs for fourth-seeded Florida State (37-19). The Seminoles finished pool play 3-0 and will play sixth-seeded Clemson (41-18) on Sunday, with the winner claiming the league's automatic NCAA Tournament berth.

 

The Seminoles loaded the bases with nobody out in the ninth on a single by Jackson Lueck and two walks by Devin Meyer (1-1). After Ben DeLuzio grounded into a force play at home, Busby singled through a drawn-in infield to score Cal Raleigh with the winning run.

 

Edgar Michelangeli had a two-run single in the top of the ninth that tied it at 4 for top-seeded Miami (45-11).

 

Winning pitcher Alec Byrd (1-0) retired the only hitter he faced in the ninth.
