Lea Salonga stepped onto a Manhattan stage last spring and sang something unusual for her — “Edelweiss” from the musical “The Sound of Music,” a song usually performed by the paternal Captain von Trapp.

Broadway royalty will be out in force Monday when stars like Sara Bareilles, Cynthia Erivo, Josh Groban, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt perform at a fundraiser for President Joe Biden.

The Emmy Award nominations announced Tuesday included some snubs and surprises, like “This Is Us” and “black-ish” walking away forever limply and Nathan Lane making history as the most-nominated best comedy guest actor in Emmy history.
