News4JAX is counting down to Wednesday evening when the City of Jacksonville will hold its Christmas tree lighting.
The mural, titled “Together in Greatness,” symbolizes the importance of unity and understanding in Jacksonville following the racially motivated shooting in New Town last year.
Downtown Vision is hosting the first “First Wednesday Art Walk” of the year, welcoming people to downtown Jacksonville, and celebrating the city’s creative talent. The event happens on Downtown’s Northbank core all the way to James Weldon Johnson Park.
The City of Jacksonville will hold its annual event and Christmas tree lighting ceremony at James Weldon Johnson Park on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Vendors started setting up early Wednesday, and patrons showed up well before dark, anxious to get back to enjoying Art Walk outdoors after it went virtual 18 months ago due to the coronavirus pandemic.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The much beloved Downtown Jacksonville Art Walk cant be stopped even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Its crazy to think about when our one night in downtown Jacksonville had 5,000 people attend, event manager Katie Tinkle said. For the last three months, the Downtown Jacksonville Art Walk has been canceled for in-person events due to the potential spread of COVID-19. In June the hosting organization, Downtown Vision, held an Art Scroll every Wednesday. Due to the nature of our new normal, events like Jacksonvilles Art Scroll are possibly more important than ever.
