JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Beyonce and Solange's father has breast cancer. "Men have breast tissue, just not as much breast tissue," said Dr. Scot Ackerman, a radiation oncologist with the Ackerman Cancer Center. The news that Knowles has breast cancer is putting a spotlight on how susceptible men are to the disease. "Women are delaying childbirth a bit and we know that one risk factor of breast cancer is not having children or having children at a later age, and that's because of the relationship between estrogen and breast cancer. This uninterrupted estrogen stimulation of the breasts increases the risk of breast cancer," Ackerman said.

Beyonce's dad, Matthew Knowles, said he was concerned when he first learned he had been diagnosed with breast cancer. He wasn't worried so much about himself but rather his daughters, whom he called immediately to get testing. The Lion King star initially filed to trademark "Blue Ivy Carter" in 2012, weeks after her daughter was born, to launch a series of products. However, a woman named Veronica Morales has challenged that application, citing her own trademark on "Blue Ivy," the name of her wedding planning company. She reportedly says Morales' challenge to Blue Ivy Carter's trademark "is frivolous and should be refused in its entirety." "Blue Ivy Carter has achieved a significant amount of fame, particularly at such a young age...She also has a noted and well-chronicled interest in fashion," the docs reportedly continued.
