Earlier Wednesday, Netanyahu welcomed the first shipment of doses of the Pfizer vaccine, calling it a “big day of celebration” for the country. In an evening news conference, Netanyahu said a public vaccination campaign would begin on Dec. 27, with the capacity to innoculate 60,000 people a day. While questions remain about the Sinopharm shot, already at least one country outside China plans to roll it out in a mass-vaccination campaign. The Sinopharm vaccine has been approved for emergency use in a few countries and the company is still conducting late-stage clinical trials in 10 countries. Morocco is gearing up for an ambitious COVID-19 vaccination program, aiming to vaccinate 80% of its adults in an operation starting this month that’s relying initially on the Sinopharm vaccine.

Israel's Arab minority makes up roughly 20% of the population, and Arab players star on rival teams and the country's national squad. The statement did not say whether the team finally plans on adding Arab players to its roster, though Hogeg has signaled that is his plan. DUBAI – Dubai’s budget carrier flydubai said Wednesday that it would start flying twice daily to Tel Aviv later this month, becoming the first Emirati airline to announce regular service after a U.S.-brokered deal to normalize relations between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. Direct flights on flydubai between Dubai and Tel Aviv, two of the region’s financial hubs, will begin Nov. 26, the carrier said, the result of a bilateral air travel pact signed last month. The low-cost carrier operates out of both of Dubai’s airports, including Dubai International Airport, which was ranked the world’s busiest for international travel before the pandemic. Flydubai has code-share flights with Dubai’s flagship Emirates Airline, but the two operate independently. Bahrain swiftly followed the UAE in normalizing relations with Israel.

But the final countries addressed the U.N. gathering on Tuesday afternoon with no word from Mali. Before this latest coup, extremists were moving south into more densely populated areas, adding to the frustrations that fed massive protests in the weeks ahead of the coup. He delivered a prerecorded address Tuesday to the U.N. General Assembly’s annual meeting of global leaders, being held virtually this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emirati foreign minister also warned against what he said were “the expansionist ambitions of some countries in the region."

Already, an Emirati space probe is hurtling through space on its way to Mars while last year it sent its first astronaut to the International Space Station. Sheikh Mohammed said the rover would be named “Rashid,” the same name of his late father, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Mondays El Al flight LY971 marked the first-ever direct flight from Israel to the United Arab Emirates, placing a significant stamp on this months historic U.S.-brokered deal to normalize relations between the two nations. While this is a historic flight, we hope it will start an even more historic journey for the Middle East and beyond, he said. Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said it hurts us very much to see the Israeli plane landing in the UAE. "We would have liked to have an Emirati plane landing in liberated Jerusalem, but we live in a difficult Arab era, Shtayyeh said. For veteran El Al purser Hedva Opatovsky, the flight marked a fitting final journey for her 46 years of air travel.
