WEATHER ALERT

A river flood warning and a rip current statement in effect for 6 regions in the area

EVAN ENGRAM

Checking in on the Jaguars at the halfway point of training camp

We’ve got nearly a dozen training camp practices in the books. And it’s game week! Well, pregame week. A little bit of a difference. But the regular season is getting closer. Let’s look at things at the halfway point of training camp glance with the Jaguars.

Training camp notebook: Drops plague receivers on Wednesday; defense looks sharp

While some things change, some things just stay the same.

Evan Engram and the Jacksonville Jaguars agree to a 3-year, $41.25M deal, AP source says

Tight end Evan Engram and the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to a three-year, $41.25 million contract that includes $24 million guaranteed.

Jags' Ridley thinks he could be better after lengthy layoff

Recently reinstated receiver Calvin Ridley watched every snap Jacksonville took last season “10 or 12 times” while wrapping up his yearlong suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.

Doug Pederson confident that Jaguars are on the right path after breakout season

It’s a far different offseason for Doug Pederson and the Jaguars. They’re not picking first in the draft. They didn’t empty the bank account in free agency. The coaching staff is settled. There’s no question about the quarterback. For the first time in a long time, Jacksonville is set at the most crucial aspects of the franchise.

Coming soon: NFL announces dates for Jaguars organized team activities

The Dates for the Jaguars' organized team activities (OTAs) have been released by the NFL.

Jaguars place franchise tag on TE Engram after career year

The Jacksonville Jaguars placed their franchise tag on tight end Evan Engram.

Jaguars plan to use franchise tag on tight end Evan Engram, report

The Jaguars are expected to use the franchise tag on tight end Evan Engram, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Trent Baalke eyes important offseason, keeping nucleus of Jaguars intact

The difference from one year to the next is remarkable for the Jaguars, and no one exemplifies that more than general manager Trent Baalke.

Key decisions facing the Jaguars this offseason

After a dream season came to an end with a loss in Kansas City, the Jaguars leadership will now look to an offseason unlike any they have experienced in recent history.

Lawrence, Jaguars continue playoff push, outclass Jets 19-3

Trevor Lawrence leaped for a touchdown and the Jacksonville Jaguars continued their push toward the playoffs with their third straight victory, 19-3 over an embarrassed Zach Wilson and the New York Jets on a rainy, windy night.

Four takeaways: Lawrence continues making rookie mistakes but he’s not a rookie

For the sixth time this season, the Jaguars were in a game in the fourth quarter only to lose, falling 21-17 to the Denver Broncos at Wembley Stadium in London. Here are my four biggest takeaways from the game:

Giants stop Jags at 1-yard line, hold on for 23-17 win

Two Giants defenders tackled Jacksonville’s Christian Kirk inside the 1-yard line as time expired, preserving New York’s 23-17 victory over the Jaguars to match its best start since 2008.

FANTASY PLAYS: Players to start and sit for NFL Week 7

Can we finally start Tony Pollard.

New faces, new coach, improved Trevor: Four questions as Jaguars open season against Washington

The new era begins Sunday for the Jaguars.

Jaguars training camp notebook: Zay Jones, Christian Kirk, defense shine under the lights

The Jaguars put a pause on their morning practices and instead practiced in the evening on TIAA Bank Field on Monday. Doug Pederson said he just wanted to switch things up a bit. Even with the shake-up in timing and location, the Jaguars stuck with Pederson’s camp plan that scheduled a full padded physical practice.

Jaguars’ free agent additions make early impression vs. Browns

The Jaguars spent more money in free agency this offseason than any team in NFL history ever has. They are looking for a good return on their investment and Friday’s preseason matchup with the Cleveland Browns offered a first look at several new additions.

Jaguars to play starters ‘a couple series’ against Browns

Doug Pederson will play his starters a little in Jacksonville’s preseason game against Cleveland on Friday night.

Jaguars training camp notebook: Intensity picks up as preseason opener inches closer

The Jaguars are closing in on their preseason opener. A glance at how training camp went on Monday.

Jaguars training camp notebook: Intensity kicks up in Saturday practice

On Saturday, the Jaguars practiced for the first time in shoulder pads. Putting the pads on also comes with some increased intensity. There was more trash talk on Saturday than on any other day of camp.

Jaguars training camp notebook: Josh Allen says Pederson treats players like ‘grown men’

After two days of training camp, one thing is much different from last year. Professionalism. That’s the big difference.

Jaguars position breakdown: A look at the tight ends

Each day this week, News4JAX looks at each offensive unit on the Jaguars. Today, it’s the tight ends.

Jaguars address D in NFL draft, get little help for Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence doesn’t appear to have a true No. 1 receiver in Jacksonville.

Jags take 'athletic freak' Walker with top pick in NFL draft

The Jacksonville Jaguars chose Georgia pass rusher Travon Walker with the top pick in the NFL draft.

NFL free agency: Let the dealing begin, mostly unofficial

Let the dealing begin — if mostly unofficial.

Jaguars focus on pass catchers with Kirk, Jones, Engram in the fold

The Jaguars finally addressed their glaring holes among pass catchers, with agreements with two receivers and a tight end during the legal tampering period on Monday.

For the first time since Peyton Manning retired after winning Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos may have a quarterback.

Pitts puts on show at Florida’s pro day for NFL evaluators

Pitts puts on show at Florida’s pro day for NFL evaluators

(AP Photo/John Raoux, File)GAINESVILLE, Fla. – There was no shortage of Kyle Pitts highlights at Florida’s pro day Wednesday, from his measurables to his moves to even his mindset. It was a refresher course for anyone who watched the versatile tight end play last season. Pitts and several teammates — most notably quarterback Kyle Trask, cornerback Marco Wilson and receivers Kadarius Toney and Trevon Grimes — worked out for talent evaluators from 31 of 32 NFL teams. AdIt’s still entirely possible for Pitts to be the highest-drafted tight end in the modern era (since 1970). “He’s a different bird than what a traditional tight end has been or certainly has been when I played,” said Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell, a tight end who played 11 NFL seasons.

Giants outlast Cowboys, lose division hours later to WSH

Giants outlast Cowboys, lose division hours later to WSH

New York’s postseason chances hinged on Philadelphia beating Washington later Sunday, but the Eagles flopped in a 20-14 loss. Hardly how first-year coach Joe Judge planned it, but there were no complaints about extending the season for at least a few more hours. Limited to 26 points over its previous three games, the Giants’ 31st-ranked offense busted out with 239 yards and 20 points in the first half. Giants: Williams had seven tackles, three sacks and hit the quarterback five times. Giants: LB Blake Martinez left the game briefly after appearing to injure his left ankle or foot in the third quarter.

Mayfield, Browns move closer to playoffs, top Giants 20-6

Mayfield, Browns move closer to playoffs, top Giants 20-6

They're thinking much bigger than all that after a dominant 20-6 win over the New York Giants on Sunday night. The victory got the Browns closer to clinching their first playoff spot since 2002, the NFL’s longest drought. New York's opening drive stalled at the 8 after McCoy's throw to Evan Engram fell incomplete in the end zone. It could've worked, too: Kicker Graham Gano was wide open in the end zone. The Browns came right back with a scoring drive capped by Mayfield's 2-yard pass to a wide-open Hooper in the back of the end zone early in the second quarter.

Seattle stunner: Giants stymie Wilson, Seahawks in 17-12 win

Seattle stunner: Giants stymie Wilson, Seahawks in 17-12 win

New York Giants defensive end Leonard Williams (99) celebrates with linebacker Tae Crowder (48) after Williams sacked Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (not shown) during the second half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, in Seattle. A fourth-and-18 desperation throw by Wilson was batted down, and the Giants were left to celebrate. “I’m really surprised that this is how we looked against this game plan that they had,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. SEATTLE’S WEIRD SCORESNot surprisingly, Seattle was involved in a game that had a strange score at some point. The 5-0 halftime score was the first in an NFL game since Week 2 of the 2013 season when the Seahawks led the 49ers 5-0 at the half.

Jones, Giants hold on to beat Washington for 2nd victory

Jones, Giants hold on to beat Washington for 2nd victory

Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson (24) warming up before the start of an NFL football game against the New York Giants, Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, in Landover, Md. Jones absorbed contact on a blindside sack, held on to the ball and Logan Ryan intercepted Alex Smith not long after to seal a 23-20 victory against Washington. "That's been a focus of mine: I obviously know the importance of holding on to the ball," Jones said. Allen injured his left ankle late in the first quarter, forcing Smith into just his second NFL game since gruesomely breaking his right leg in November 2018. UP NEXTThe Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles in their second-last NFC East game this season, while Washington visits the Detroit Lions.

Brady reclaims record with 2 TD throws as Bucs beat Giants

He recognized Monday night’s 25-23 victory by his Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasn’t very artistic. But Tampa Bay (6-2) had to sweat it out. But he fumbled when hit by Blake Martinez and rookie Darnay Holmes recovered at the Tampa Bay 12. ... Evans led Tampa Bay with five catches for 55 yards, and Gronkowski wound up with four receptions for 41 yards. New Orleans beat Tampa Bay in the season opener 34-23.

(AP Photo/Michael Ainsworth)ARLINGTON, Texas – After Dak Prescott's season ended on a gruesome ankle injury, his running mate for all five of their seasons with the Dallas Cowboys had a hard time getting through the post-game interview. Prescott reached for the leg as he writhed in pain, and TV images showed his right foot bent at an awkward angle away from his leg. Three of Graham Gano's four field goals were from at least 50 yards for the Giants, from 55, 50 and 54. Cowboys: DT Trysten Hill was carted off with a right knee on New York's first drive of the second half.

Roethlisberger, who missed the final 14 games last season after elbow surgery, threw for three scores in a 26-16 win over the New York Giants at an empty and eerie MetLife Stadium on Monday night. The defense, while not quite on the level of the famed Steel Curtain, was plenty stingy and physical. It not only held Saquon Barkley to 6 yards on 15 carries, it also swarmed him in the backfield nearly all night. Even though the Pittsburgh defense broke down as the Giants marched 87 yards on 19 plays in just under nine minutes in the third quarter, it still came up with a major stop. Roethlisberger then took Pittsburgh 62 yards for the field goal and a 19-10 lead.
