For most of the day, somberness clouds a makeshift shelter for grief-stricken relatives of dozens of workers still missing at the site of a building collapse in Bangkok.

It’s not every day that a K9 unit is recognized for its efforts to find a missing person and return them home.

After a week of shooting threats targeting schools in Flagler County, Sheriff Rick Staly held a press conference Thursday afternoon to address concerns and “set the record straight” on the incidents.

In a few weeks, K9s United will hold a big fundraising event to benefit four-legged law enforcement throughout Northeast Florida and beyond.

K9 for warriors gifted 12 service dogs to veterans

Police K9 teams from across the state will return to Jacksonville this weekend for the yearly battle to be named “Top Dog.”

Participating Florida K-9 teams included the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol’s Jacksonville, Orlando and Ocoee departments.

K9s United Vice President Jay Nix said a new Florida law that the nonprofit helped pass allows first responders to take immediate action when a police dog is injured. That quick action Friday likely saved the life of Jacksonville Sheriff's Office K-9 Huk after he was shot in the line of duty.

K9 For Warriors is one step closer to completing the world’s largest rescue to Service Dog training facility.

Nobody knows that better than the folks at K9 For Warriors, an organization dedicated to training shelter dogs to become service animals for veterans. They were able to share some puppy love with the residents through window visits, while the residents remained in the safety of their own rooms. “It’s a lot of joy, just to know how much the elderly mean to people,” said an emotional Deidre Strag, a K9s For Warriors trainer. “He’s hope, he’s love, he’s understanding.”Miranda said the visit was meaningful for the residents. PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A K9 assisting the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a search for a missing baby was bitten by a water moccasin in the Everglades on Thursday. (CNN) - Two men who were stopped in a truck containing 420 pounds of marijuana are under arrest, thanks to Connecticut State Troopers and a K9 unit that's winning praise for sniffing it all out. The truck was stopped Friday while it was headed southbound on Interstate 95, in Darien. The two suspects, 23-year-old Vahe Manjikian and 27-year-old Kevin Conrado of Los Angeles, have been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
