K9s United Vice President Jay Nix said a new Florida law that the nonprofit helped pass allows first responders to take immediate action when a police dog is injured. That quick action Friday likely saved the life of Jacksonville Sheriff's Office K-9 Huk after he was shot in the line of duty.
Wisconsin authorities say they shot a man connected to Chicago homicide. Police dog is also wounded in shootout at Kenosha County gas station.

K9s For Warriors brings doggies to the windows for seniors in Nocatee
Nobody knows that better than the folks at K9 For Warriors, an organization dedicated to training shelter dogs to become service animals for veterans. They were able to share some puppy love with the residents through window visits, while the residents remained in the safety of their own rooms. “It’s a lot of joy, just to know how much the elderly mean to people,” said an emotional Deidre Strag, a K9s For Warriors trainer. “He’s hope, he’s love, he’s understanding.”Miranda said the visit was meaningful for the residents. Florida police K9 bitten by snake while searching for missing baby
PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A K9 assisting the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a search for a missing baby was bitten by a water moccasin in the Everglades on Thursday. As investigators and officers were searching the area, Heidi Sievers, Forensic Investigator (FI) and K9 Phi’s handler noticed that K9 Phi was limping. “The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is thankful for the quick actions of BluePearl in K9 Phi’s care," the Pasco Sheriff’s Office said. “Their professionalism and communication with FI Sievers and Cpl. Connecticut police arrest two men carrying 420 lbs of marijuana
(CNN) - Two men who were stopped in a truck containing 420 pounds of marijuana are under arrest, thanks to Connecticut State Troopers and a K9 unit that's winning praise for sniffing it all out. The truck was stopped Friday while it was headed southbound on Interstate 95, in Darien. The two suspects, 23-year-old Vahe Manjikian and 27-year-old Kevin Conrado of Los Angeles, have been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
