A Georgia sheriff's deputy who fatally shot a driver in a roadside struggle has been involved in other traffic stops that spiraled into violence.

A Black man who spent more than 16 years imprisoned in Florida on a wrongful conviction was fatally shot Monday by a sheriff’s deputy in Georgia during a traffic stop, authorities said.

Leonard Cure was trying to make up for lost time in the three years since his release from prison after Florida officials concluded he had been wrongfully convicted of armed robbery.
