NEW YORK This year's New York Film Festival will be held largely virtually and in outdoor screenings, organizers said Thursday while unveiling a lineup featuring new films from Chloe Zhao, Steve McQueen and Azazel Jacobs. Many of the films selected by Film at Lincoln Center, which presents the New York Film Festival, will also play at the Venice and Toronto festivals. As previously announced, the 58th New York Film Festival will kick off with McQueen's Lovers Rock"; Chloe Zhao's Nomadland is the centerpiece; and Azazel Jacobs' French Exit, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Lucas Hedges. Last year, Martin Scorsese's Irishman debuted opening night at the New York Film Festival. The 58th New York Film Festival will run a week earlier, from Sept. 17Oct.

Although Michelle Pfeiffer is an acclaimed actress with decades of work under her belt, she still has a petrifying fear of getting the boot. "I think it comes from not having a background of formal training, you know, in the beginning," Pfeiffer explained. The new film rejoins Maleficent (Jolie) and Princess Aurora (Fanning) after the events of the 2014 film. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil arrives in theaters on Oct. 18. Angelina Jolie recently made headlines when she had to try to keep from crying while dropping off her son, Maddox, for his first day of collage at Yonsei University in South Korea, and the actress says she's looking forward to this next chapter of parenthood. "I just sent one off I'm so proud of him," Jolie said of her 18-year-old son, Maddox. "[And] it's going to be different for different kids," she added. Jolie, Fanning and Pfeiffer star in Disney's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which hits theaters Oct. 18.
