Creekside teacher recognized by National Geographic Society
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A Creekside High School teacher is getting national recognition for her work in environmental sciences. Alicia Pressel, who teaches grades 9-12 at Creeksideโs Academy of Engineering and Environment Sciences, was recently named one of eight โEmerging Explorersโ by the National Geographic Society. Pressel became the second educator to receive this award out of its more than 130 recipients in 18 years. Mrs. Pressels class out working in the field (Alicia Pressel)Working with the community is a huge part of what Pressel teaches. โThe goal is to provide students with opportunities for further projects in our community, focusing on field studies and (geographic information systems) and mapping, understanding special connections with environmental science in our community," Pressel said.

It was incredible to be able to make some art in a way, to voice this beautiful thing, linked up to India, said Patel. Patel frequently films in India, but high above the crowd is not a perspective hes used to. How people find a way in India, no matter how hard the condition is, he said.
'Rebuilding Paradise' looks at emotional toll of deadly fire

St. Augustine prepares for Nights of Lights kickoff
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. โ The 26th annual Nights of Lights will brighten 20 blocks of St. Augustineโs historic district beginning Saturday. According to National Geographic, it is one of the 10 best holiday lights displays in the world. โWe were down here last year for the Nights of Lights and it was gorgeous, and we wanted to see it again. It is worthwhile to come every year.โThe Hausers are just two of hundreds of thousands of people who will come to St. Augustine for Nights of Lights, according to the City. โBusier every year,โ said Chris Taylor, a life-long St. Augustine resident.

Explorer Who Found the Titanic Launching Search for Amelia Earhart's Plane
It's a mystery that's puzzled the world for more than 80 years: what happened to Amelia Earhart? Now, legendary explorer Bob Ballard, who found the sunken wreckage of the Titanic in 1985, is launching an expedition to find Earhart's plane and documenting the quest in a two-hour National Geographic documentary. Ballard, National Geographic explorer-at-large, and his team plan to search deep underwater for clues. Earhart's plane has never been recovered, but Ballard and the National Geographic team hope that finding evidence of it could help solve the Earhart mystery once and for all.
