LOS ANGELES – Singer FKA twigs filed a lawsuit Friday alleging that Shia LaBeouf was physically and emotionally abusive during their relationship from 2018 to 2019, saying her experience was part of a pattern of terrorizing women for the 34-year-old actor. “Shia LaBeouf hurts women,” the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court said in its opening lines. On a Valentine’s Day getaway in 2019, FKA twigs awoke to LaBeouf choking her and she was paralyzed with fear, the lawsuit said. She made several attempts to leave him that he resisted, but he later ended the relationship himself, the lawsuit said. The lawsuit said Pho allied herself with Barnett in an attempt to protect women from LaBeouf, although Pho is not listed as a plaintiff.

LOS ANGELES – Shia LaBeouf has been charged with misdemeanor battery and petty theft. Prosecutors allege that the 34-year-old actor fought with a man named Tyler Murphy and took his hat, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Associated Press on Thursday from the Los Angeles city attorney. The charges were filed on Sept. 24 for the June 12 incident. A representative for LaBeouf did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. He has had several run-ins with the law during his career, including a 2017 New York arrest for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct that was captured on a livestream video.

BUDAPEST Thousands of students, faculty and supporters of Hungarys University of Theater and Film Arts formed a human chain Sunday between their institution and parliament to protest government steps seen diminishing its autonomy. Students at the University of Theater and Film Arts have barricaded themselves inside the building since Tuesday. Many of the university's top professors have resigned, as has the school's leadership, in wake of the designation of the foundation's board of trustees, led by theater and film director Attila Vidnyanszky. Since 2013, Vidnyanszky has also been the director of Hungary's National Theater. On Saturday, film director Kornel Mundruczo wore a #Free SZFE T-shirt at the Venice Film Festival, where his new film, Pieces of A Woman, starring Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf and Ellen Burstyn, is in the competition.

LOS ANGELES Spicoli is making a virtual return to Ridgemont High to raise money for a pair of non-profit groups. Sean Penn, a cast member in 1982's Fast Times at Ridgmont High," will be joined by Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and other stars in a socially distanced reading of the film's script. Penn is handing the role of stoner Jeff Spicoli over to another actor, with details about who's playing what part to be unveiled at next week's event.
