JSO confirms men were killed by gunfire following pursuit that ended near zoo
News4JAX on Tuesday obtained the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s investigative report into a police pursuit that began in Northwest Jacksonville and ended near the Jacksonville Zoo, where a police K-9 was shot and wounded. A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office confirmed two of three men in the car were killed when shots were fired from inside the car and police returned fire.

A police K-9 was shot Friday afternoon following a pursuit that ended in a crash on Busch Drive near the Jacksonville Zoo, and two people in the vehicle that was being pursued died at the scene, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Zoo Parkway reopens six hours after gas truck overturned
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - An overturned Gate Petroleum tanker blocked all westbound lanes of Zoo Parkway near Eastport Road from before dawn Friday to nearly 11:30 a.m. According to Gate Petroleum, the truck driver was not seriously injured in the crash that kept traffic detoured for about six hours. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department helped contain the fuel, but had no preliminary estimate on the amount of fuel that leaked.
