66-year-old man struck in crosswalk hospitalized with minor injuries

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. – A pedestrian was struck by a van early Thursday morning on Amelia Concourse at Amelia National Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said 71-year-old Raymond Talbird Jr., of Yulee, was in a marked crossway at 6:57 a.m. when he was struck by a van driven by Ronald Chabot, 66, of Fernandina Beach.

Talbird was taken to Baptist Medical Center Nassau with minor injuries.

Chabot was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk with a traffic control device.
