82-year-old killed when tire on 3-wheeled motorcycle separates on I-95: FHP

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – An 82-year-old man died Tuesday morning when the three-wheeled motorcycle he was riding flipped on I-95 in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported on I-95 southbound at mile marker 305.

The man, who lives in Green Cove Springs, was headed south next to an SUV when the left rear tire of his three-wheeled motorcycle separated, veering him into the back side of the SUV. The impact sent the motorcycle into the guardrail, where it flipped, throwing the man into the center median.

He died at the scene. Troopers said he was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

FHP does not release the names of those involved in crashes.
