Weekend weather forecast

Cool, sunny, & breezy

A slight chance for a coastal shower Sunday afternoon.

JACKSONVILLE, FL – This weekend- feel especially spoiled with our cool winter weather as the snowfall totals stack up across the Northeast.  Some totals are already over 30".  As a result of such a strong low pressure system passing well to the North of us- dry cool air spreads across the Southeast.  This makes for a breezy, cool weekend.

On Saturday, we woke up in the mid to low 40's with the exception of the beaches- they cooled to the low 50's overnight.  Winds overnight were in the low range, around 5 mph. Shortly after sunrise, the winds built initially along the coastline, spreading inland by the mid-morning hours.  Winds play quite a factor in your forecast today- peaking between 10-20 mph during the afternoon hours.  At the beaches, the winds will be most brisk.  They shift from NNE to NE by your lunch hour- any further Easterly shift in the winds may lead to an increased risk in rip current danger, the risk currently sits at Moderate.  Wind chills will make afternoon highs feel more like the low to mid 60's as opposed to the mid to upper  60's.  Along the I-75 corridor, winds will be lighter and afternoon high temperatures may reach the low 70's.  Between Hwy 301 and I-95, afternoon highs will reach the upper 60's by 2:00pm.  From I-95 to A1A, mid to low 60's are expected this afternoon.  No rain chances for toady, mostly sunny skies, and breezy conditions are expected.
