JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for most of the area. Fog has increased across north Florida and many spots have a quarter mile or less visibility. The fog is especially bad this morning with much of it covering inland areas.
Thick fog has spread in from the Gulf of Mexico. This advection fog happens when warm air flows over cold water like what we have near Cedar Key. Light onshore winds moves the fog ashore flowing into Jacksonville.
Fog may take longer to dissipate. Slow improvement in visibilities is expected around 11 this morning.
The Dense Fog Advisory was extended until 11 am for these counties: Alachua- Baker-Bradford-Clay-Coastal Duval-Coastal Nassau-Columbia-Flagler-Gilchrist-Hamilton-Inland Duval-Inland Nassau-Marion-Putnam-St. Johns-Suwannee-Union.
