Make that 11 days in a row without measurable rains

Jacksonville enjoying mid-summer tropical blue skies and tropical afternoon sea breezes

A few coastal and noontime showers

Large summertime sub-tropical high pressure has been anchored just north of Florida and with the clock-wise circulation around that high pressure is allowing for a nice Easterly wind to bring to Jacksonville tropical blue skies, inland afternoon showers and thundershowers and afternoon highs that have been about normal, despite lots of sunny skies.

Mark Collins has more on this pattern here, in the weather news section of News4Jax.

We will be dominated by this pattern for at least 3 more afternoons, unfortunately by this weekend the pattern will breakdown allowing for more widespread tropical conditions to move back across Jacksonville.

Until then, mornings will be muggy with a few isolated coastal showers along area beaches. These brief showers may linger along I-95 until the noon hour, thereafter the showers and thundershowers will push inland along US 301 and westward.

So that’s today, Thursday and Friday.

By late Friday, and into the weekend, tropical moisture will surge back across the entire state and with it afternoon and evening thunderstorms will return. Afternoon storms, some heavy will be back and with it the threat of some washed out barbecues this weekend. The good news? Temperatures will remain reasonable, with a normal high of 92° we should be within a degree or two each afternoon this weekend.
