If you couldn’t book one of the bigger venues, you were forced to play to a bunch of drunk people who wanted to hear covers. So, I wanted a space that was the opposite of that.” In 2017, Cara opened Blue Jay Listening Room and since then, it has become a staple in the Jax music community, encouraging both local and national bands and artists to come and play their original music for a crowd of people who are there to actually LISTEN. Heather loves being out in the community with her side kick Patty Cakes making appearances at local schools for author visits, book stores, RAM, donating books to local and overseas charities and being at several events in Duval and St.John's County almost every weekend. She loves being able to provide interactive story times through out the community with different sensory and arts and craft activities that go along with her books to keep the kids engaged and help increase sensory and literacy development as well as reading comprehension. Her mission is to provide a memorable experience for kids while teaching kids the importance of being kind and accepting differences in others.
