Shaq set to compete in AEW wrestling match in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ One of the biggest names in sports is heading to Jacksonville to compete Wednesday in a professional wrestling match. Shaquille OโNeal is slated to compete in a match for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) at Dailyโs Place where the wrestling promotion tapes Dynamite, its weekly wrestling show that airs on TNT on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on TNT. OโNeal will be starring in whatโs called a mixed tag team match, or a match when thereโs a man and woman on each team. Jim Ross, the lead commentator for AEW, said the organization expects to see media from across the country descend on Dailyโs Place for Wednesdayโs match to watch Shaq wrestle. But sheโs a wrestling fan, which is great.โAnd OโNeal isnโt the only high-profile celebrity AEW has attracted to Jacksonville in recent months.
All Elite Wresting coming back to Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - All Elite Wresting is returning to Jacksonville for New Year's Day, the professional wresting promotion announced Monday. The AEW Dynamite event will happen on Jan. 1, 2020 at Daily's Place. All Elite Wresting (AEW) was founded earlier this year by Tony Khan, son of Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan, and previously held an event in Jacksonville in July. The Khans are the financial backers of the wresting venture and join notable wrestling figures such as Cody Rhodes, who is a well-known wrestler and the son of the late Dusty Rhodes. Tony Khan also acts as president and CEO.
