JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Students at Darnell-Cookman School of the Medical Arts were evacuated Thursday because of a bomb threat. It was later determined that the threat was false.

The students and staff were provided lunch at their evacuation site, a Duval County School District spokeswoman said. Parents and guardians were asked not come to the school until the "all clear" was given around 2 p.m.

According to DCPS, dismissal procedures will be different for car riders, or parents who need to be picked up by parents.

"All students who are car riders, may be picked up at their normal time of 2.55 p.m. from LaVilla School of the Arts located at 501 North Davis Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202. All students riding buses will be picked-up at their normal time from the evacuation site and taken to their normal bus stops. Student drivers, walkers and staff will be bused back to the school at dismissal. After school extended daycare is not canceled," said Laureen Ricks with the school district.

Duval County School Police and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation to determine the origin of the threat.
