ORLANDO, Fla. – The tooth fairy is paying more in 2013 -- leaving an average of $3.70 under a child's pillow for each tooth, according to a new survey by Visa.
The 2013 average is up 23 percent from 2012, when the tooth fairy was forking over an average of $3 per tooth.
The rise in price is even more dramatic over the past two years. The tooth fairy pays 42 percent more in 2013 than in 2011, when the price of a tooth was $2.60.

At the current rate, a child could make $74 for a full set of 20 baby teeth, according to Visa.
Visa researchers also found 10 percent of children get at least $5 from the tooth fairy. Two percent of children received $50.
Kids in the South get the second least amount of money from the tooth fairy with an average of $3.60 per tooth. The tooth fairy leaves the most amount of money for Northeastern children and the least amount of money for Midwestern children.
