JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It might be one of the easiest, not to mention tastiest, holidays to celebrate: Dec. 4 marks National Cookie Day.
Fittingly, Sesame Street first marked the day on Nov. 26, 1976, according to NationalDayCalendar.com. A decade later, the Blue Chip Cookie Company began celebrating it on Dec. 4 instead.
Apparently, observing the holiday is as simple as scooping up some cookies at your favorite bakery, or baking a batch yourself, and sharing them with your friends and loved ones.
To celebrate the occasion, several national chains, including those with Jacksonville locations, are offering some discounts and freebies. Check out the list below:
- Cinnabon: This chain is unveiling its "Cookie BonBite" for the occasion. You can get a a free 8-ounce bottle of fairlife filtered milk with purchase of a Cookie BonBite.
- Great American Cookies: Customers can get a free original chocolate chip cookie at participating locations today. There is no purchase necessary.
- Whole Foods: To celebrate the occasion, Whole Foods Market is having a 50 percent off sale on its cookie bar from Dec. 1 to Dec. 4.
