LEVY COUNTY, Fla. – An alleged jewelry thief is behind bars after authorities said he admitted to robbing several area malls over the past few days.
Reginald Lydell Jones, 45, of Quincy, was arrested Saturday after allegedly trying to rob a jewelry store at a mall in Levy County. Authorities said during interrogation, Jones admitted to robbing several area malls over several days.

Chastain Jewelers in Lake City was robbed earlier in the week. The jewelry store was robbed of a one carat and a one-half carat ring. Police said Jones stole the rings out of a salesperson's hand and then took off. Jones confessed that he was the one who committed the robbery of the Chastain Jewelry store in the Lake City Mall, police said. He stated that he had sold the ring to an unknown person, police said.
Robbery by sudden snatching charges are going to be filed against Jones with the State?s Attorney Office. Jones is currently in the Levy County Detention Center on $100,000 bond.
