Man found shot inside car on Interstate 4

Bullet hole found in the car's windshield, witnesses say

Orange County, FLA – Eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 near Maitland reopened Monday morning, but police continue to investigate how a man was shot while driving on the roadway.

A man was found shot in the chest inside his car just after 3 a.m. near exit 90 in Orange County.  The interstate reopened about three hours later.

According to Maitland police, a woman inside the car called 911 after the man told her, "I've been hit, I've been shot." 

The shooting occurred as the vehicle drove under an overpass, and the man was able to drive the car to the side of the road.  The woman did not appear to be injured.

It's not known who shot the man, and investigators were seen looking for clues with flashlights along the side of the interstate.

Witnesses said a bullet hole pierced the windshield of the car.

The man was taken to the hospital.  He was conscious at the scene, but his condition was not known.

No other details have been released by police.
