1 killed in wrong-way crash on I-10 crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 73-year-old driver was killed Saturday afternoon while driving the wrong way on Interstate 10  near McDuff Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP says Gloria Couch Blanton was driving an older Lincoln Town Car west in an eastbound lane of I-10 just before 4 p.m. when she struck an eastbound pickup truck.  Troopers say Blanton was not wearing her seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Betty Crampton, 58, who was driving the Ford Ranger struck by the Town Car, was transported to UF Health with serious injuries.

All eastbound lanes of I-10 at McDuff Avenue were blocked and traffic was being detoured while the wreck was investigated and cleared.
