Cottage catches fire in Vilano Beach

Fire official: No one was living in the cottage

VILANO BEACH, Fla. – The cause of a fire at a cottage in Vilano Beach remains under investigation.

The fire happened on A1A across the street from a Kangaroo gas station around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Someone from the gas station saw smoke coming from the house and reported it.

No one was living in the house and there are no injuries, according to Lieutenant Bob Snell with St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to put it out.

There is damage to the front of the house.
