Deadly accident in Marion County under investigation

Troopers: Driver of vehicle involved in crash charged with driving without a license

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – One person is dead after an accident in Marion County that happened around 5 p.m. Friday near County Road 225 and County Road 326.

Troopers say the driver of a vehicle, 54-year-old Linda Bruce, did not stop after passing a stop sign and flashing red lights and entered an intersection in front of an approaching Ford F-150 driven by Benjamin Sanchez-Perez.  Troopers say Bruce was killed.

Bruce's vehicle ended up in a ditch and overturned.  Sanchez-Perez' vehicle hit some trees and a fence, according to troopers.

Investigators say Sanchez-Perez provided a voluntary blood sample and was arrested on the scene for driving without a license, which is a misdemeanor.

Troopers say the investigation is ongoing.
