JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Filipino restaurant in Argyle Forest is shut down after an inspector spoted several roaches near the cash register. Jeepney Stop Oriental Fast Food was shut down for the night after the inspector found a half dozen roaches at the cash register next to the steam table.
The inspector wrote that the manager killed the bugs, but that wasn't enough. There was also roach excrement on the wood under the cash register. The inspector did come back the next day and Jeepney was clear of any bugs. In fact there were no high priority violations mentioned in this most recent report.
Another restaurant made the restaurant report card because of the sheer number of violations in its latest inspection. Sam Won Garden Restaurant on University Boulevard had a total of 25 violations. Nine of them were high priority violations.
They didn't have any bug problems but several temperature violations that could get people sick. The inspector wrote she found food that was supposed to be at 41 degrees much warmer. Cabbage, lettuce, tofu, broccoli and kimchi were all too warm. They also had to throw out rice for the same reason.
Sam Won still needs to be rechecked and the inspector will be back within the next three months.
