An officer was patrolling the area of Alexia Circle, just off Kernan Boulevard, because of a rash of burglaries of homes being built in the Red Hawk subdivision, according to a police report.

The officer said he saw a U-Haul truck parked in front of one of the homes about 9:30 p.m. and when he passed by the house again, the truck was gone.

The officer then went into the house, and he found Johnson hiding in the kitchen, the Sheriff's Office said.

Police said Johnson had wire cutters and an air conditioning unit breaker on him. Investigators said they also found an air conditioning unit breaker that appeared to have been dragged down the stairs.

Johnson was booked into the Duval County Jail.
