Man rescued after boat capsizes near Tybee Island, Coast Guard says

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. – A man was rescued Sunday after his boat capsized about a mile south of Tybee Island, Georgia, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Officials said watchstanders received a 911 relay at 11:40 a.m. that a sailboat had capsized with one person aboard.

A 29-foot response boat and an air crew were launched to assist the Tybee Island Fire Department, which arrived at 12:05 p.m. and rescued the 31-year-old man from the water. He was then taken ashore, where emergency medical service officials were waiting.

No injuries were reported.
