GAINSVILLE, Fla. – A police dog was credited for capturing a University of Florida student accused of breaking and entering.
Gainesville investigators say the incident happened at a home near the intersection of 8th Avenue and 17th Street.

The suspect has been identified by police as Christian Kobes, 20.
According to the arrest report, multiple officer were dispatched to the home after the burglary alarm went off. When officers arrived at the residence, they found a broken window with glass still falling from the frame.
Soon after a K-9 officer and his service dog entered the home, the dog located and captured Kobes.
Investigators reported that Kobes had been hiding on a bed while wrapped up in a blanket. Investigators also said Kobes was in possession of a broom that is presumed to have been used to break the window.
Kobes was booked into the Alachua County jail on charges that include:
- Second degree burglary of an unoccupied dwelling
- Damage to property
- Resisting arrest
Nothing was reported stolen because Kobes was captured while he was still inside the home.
Police have confirmed that Kobes is a UF student.
