ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Corvette driver going 130 mph in a 45 mph zone on County Road 13 near Joe Ashton Road.
The body camera footage released by the sheriff’s office shows the driver being stopped and the arrest.
“What the hell are we doing?” the deputy asks the driver. “130 miles an hour, seriously?”
The sheriff’s office is reminding drivers of Florida’s Dangerous Excessive Speeding Law and that drivers will be arrested when exceeding the speed limit by over 50 mph or driving over 100 mph in a manner that threatens the safety of other people, properties, or vehicles.
Second or more offenses could lead to up to 90 days in jail, a fine of $1,000 or both.
A person convicted of two or more violations within five years may have their driving privileges revoked for at least 180 days.
“Help keep our roads safe, slow down, and obey speed limits,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
