Funeral held for Zuheily Rosado a week after her killing

Flagler County community mourns loss of 32-year-old mom

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Family and friends gathered Thursday morning in Flagler Beach for the funeral of Zuheily Rosado, a 32-year-old beloved mother of six who was shot and killed one week ago while working the evening shift as a clerk at a Palm Coast gas station.

It was a very somber goodbye, and a lot of people broke into tears at the sight of Rosado's children laying flowers on her grave.

Family members say they're trying to remember the good life Rosado lived, not the terrible way she died.

In a slow procession, family and friends escorted Rosado to her final resting place. They said prayers, sang and consoled each other, remembering the young mother they say that was taken too soon. At one point, her husband couldn't take it anymore and lay in mourning on the ground.

"She's a good girl. She was a good girl. And I loved her too much," said Virgilio Roman, Rosado's father.

He had to fly in from Puerto Rico to bury his daughter. Other relatives came from all across the country.

"The past 48 hours i couldn't sleep. i was just dumbfounded," said Dennis Roman, Rosado's brother.

Rosado's funeral is one week after she was killed working the evening shift at a Palm Coast gas station. Surveillance video of the man who walked into the mobile gas station off East State Route 100 in Palm Coast last Thursday shows the killing happened within 9 seconds.

The shooter got away. Since the shooting, customers have been coming by, leaving flowers and cards.

"A very nice girl, yeah," Rosado's father said. "She's very happy. She liked to be laughing all the time."

As they said goodbye, loved ones tried to remember the woman they say always had a smile on her face. They hope her killer is caught before he can do such a terrible thing to another family.

"Just a loving woman," Dennis Roman said. "It's a shame that this tragedy happens to her. No one deserves this."

An account has been set up at Wells Fargo under the name of Zuheily Rosado Memorial Fund to help her family. Donations are being accepted at any Wells Fargo branch under account No. 7537414661. Donations can also be sent to the Justice Coalition, 1925 Lane Ave. S., Suite #1 32210 in Zuheily Rosado's name.

Family members have set up a Justice for Zuheily Facebook page in hopes of catching Rosado's killer.
