JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Browns as he attempts to come back from a high ankle sprain.

Coach Doug Pederson said Friday that Lawrence will remain questionable on the injury report from the injury he suffered in Monday night’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals.

“He’s feeling good, we’ll see. He moved around a little bit yesterday, see how he does today,” Pederson said. “Kind of base it on medical staff, how Trevor feels, and if he can go or not.”

Lawrence was again out throwing at practice on Friday.

The Jaguars (8-4) are a game in front of the Texans and Colts for the AFC South lead.

Left tackle Walker Little stepped on Lawrence’s ankle and it bent inward late in the fourth quarter. Lawrence was helped off the field and backup C.J. Beathard finished the game.

Jacksonville took heavy losses in the Cincinnati game, including a core muscle injury to Christian Kirk that landed him on injured reserve Friday. Pederson said this week that Kirk is likely headed for surgery.

Little hasn’t practiced this week with a hamstring injury. Cornerback Tyson Campbell, who had one of the most difficult games of his career against JaMarr Chase, has been battling a quad injury. Cornerback Tre Herndon remains in concussion protocol. Rookie tight end Brenton Strange hasn’t practiced this week due to a foot injury.

While the injuries stacked up Monday night, it was the sight of Lawrence on the field writhing in pain that was the most significant. He looked much better when he spoke to the media Wednesday and wasn’t in a brace or a walking boot. He practiced Thursday and Friday, a sign that he’s farther along than he initially looked.

The offensive line will get shaken up once again with Little likely out. He replaced Cam Robinson, who suffered a knee injury against the Texans and will be out for several weeks. That means left guard Ezra Cleveland could start at left tackle against the Browns, who have one of the league’s top defenses.

“We’ll see, we’re getting him reps out there. We’re getting [OL] Tyler Shatley inside reps, getting [OL] Blake Hance some reps out there. [OL] Cole Van Lanen has been getting some reps,” Pederson said. “A bunch of combinations of guys.”

Lawrence has been exceptionally durable in his college and NFL career. He missed two starts at Clemson due to COVID-19 protocols and hasn’t missed a start with the Jaguars. He’s started all 46 regular season games with Jacksonville and two in the playoffs last year.

Lawrence was injured at the end of the first half at Detroit last year with a toe sprain but returned in the second half. Against Indianapolis in Week 6 but came back on a short week and started a Thursday night game against the Saints.

Lawrence was considered a game-time decision for New Orleans and wound up playing.
